Working within a Specialist Resource Provision, you will support students with speech, language and communication needs and/or autism through targeted interventions, classroom support and inclusive learning activities. You will play a key role in helping students develop academically, socially and emotionally. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver tailored support programmes, monitor progress and encourage positive learning outcomes. DUTIES- Support Students: Work with students with speech, language and communication needs and/or autism, delivering targeted interventions and evidence‑based support strategies.
- Implementing Programmes: Deliver individual and group intervention plans under the guidance of teaching staff and specialist professionals.
- Supporting Therapy Delivery: Assist with the implementation of speech and language programmes as directed by teaching staff and specialist practitioners.
- Monitoring Progress: Record, track and report on student development and achievement.
- Classroom Support: Support students from the Specialist Resource Provision within mainstream classroom settings.
- Promoting Inclusion: Help create a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages achievement and wellbeing.
- Collaborating with Professionals: Work alongside teachers, therapists and external agencies to support student outcomes.
- Preparing Resources: Assist with the preparation and maintenance of teaching and learning materials and equipment.
- Following Procedures: Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management and organisational policies.
- Professional Development: Participate in relevant training and development opportunities to enhance specialist SEN knowledge and skills.
- Essential: A patient, empathetic and caring approach when supporting children and young people.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents and professionals.
