SALARY: £26,000 to £35,000 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Saltash, Cornwall (PL12), it is also possible to be based in Newton Abbot, Devon (TQ12) Fully Office Based
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday - with the option to alter your hours to work extra Monday to Thursday and finish at 2.00pm on a Friday
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior or Semi Senior Accountant to join an accountancy practice supporting a varied client portfolio with accounts preparation, tax compliance and financial reporting. As the Senior or Semi Senior Accountant you will work in a client-facing role, preparing limited company accounts, VAT returns and management accounts while supporting junior team members. The Senior or Semi Senior Accountant will suit someone with a positive mindset, strong attention to detail and experience in a practice environment, with knowledge of Xero, Dext, bookkeeping and modern accounting technology beneficial.
DUTIES
- Limited Company Accounts: prepare accounts for a range of clients
- Tax Returns: prepare tax returns accurately and in line with relevant requirements
- Junior Team Support: review work completed by more junior team members
- VAT Returns: prepare and complete first reviews of VAT returns
- Management Accounts: prepare management accounts to support client finance functions
- Client Communication: build positive working relationships with clients and communicate effectively
- Accounting Technology: use modern accounting systems and digital tools to streamline work
- Finance Support: help clients gain clear insight into their finance function and business performance
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience working in an accountancy practice environment
- Experience preparing limited company accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and management accounts
- Achieved AAT Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience
- Strong attention to detail with good self-organisation and multitasking skills
- A positive, proactive and curious approach to learning and development
- Confident communication skills with the ability to build effective client relationships
- Willingness to support the learning and development of colleagues
- Comfortable working with new technology and digital accounting systems
- Experience using Xero and Dext would be beneficial
