SALARY: £59,009 to £64,673 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Wokingham, Berkshire working at multiple locations around the area

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

JOB OVERVIEW: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Residential Childrens Home Manager to lead a newly established multi-building residential childcare service supporting children and young people in care. As a Residential Childrens Home Manager you will oversee daily operations, safeguarding, compliance and staff development across the homes, ensuring high standards of care, emotional support and positive outcomes for children. The organisation is seeking a compassionate and solution-focused Residential Childrens Home Manager with strong leadership skills, residential childcare experience and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES

  • Leading Residential Services: Managing the day-to-day operation of the residential childrens homes in line with relevant legislation, regulations and policies
  • Supporting Children and Young People: Promoting positive outcomes, wellbeing and stability for children and young people in care
  • Managing Staff Teams: Providing leadership, supervision, mentoring and performance management for residential childcare staff
  • Ensuring Safeguarding Standards: Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and compliance across the homes
  • Developing Care Plans: Supporting the delivery and review of person-centred care and support plans
  • Working with Partner Agencies: Building effective relationships with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and external agencies
  • Monitoring Quality Standards: Reviewing service performance and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Managing Resources: Overseeing budgets, staffing levels and operational resources effectively
  • Supporting Recruitment Activities: Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and staff development activities
  • Promoting Positive Relationships: Encouraging a nurturing, safe and supportive environment for children and staff

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • A recognised and current Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Significant experience in a management role within a childrens residential setting
  • Proven experience of leading and motivating teams to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, regulations and best practice within residential childcare
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with colleagues, families and partner agencies
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within tight timescales
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to service delivery and operational challenges
  • Experience with collaborative working across social care, education and healthcare services
  • Confident using digital systems, record keeping systems and Microsoft Office applications
