This is a hands-on manufacturing role supporting production, materials handling, stock control, and supply chain operations. You will ensure efficient material flow, reprocessing, and inventory control within a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment.
As a Production Operative / Materials Handler you will be responsible for reprocessing plastic materials, supporting stock control, and ensuring the smooth supply of raw materials across production departments. The role involves manual handling, quality checks, and maintaining traceability. Working as a Production Operative / Materials Handler you will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, ensuring materials are correctly identified, stored, and supplied while upholding high standards of health and safety, housekeeping, and operational performance.
DUTIES- Material Reprocessing: Grind and reprocess plastic waste including sprues, offcuts, and rejected components
- Material Identification: Accurately identify material type, grade, and colour before processing
- Contamination Control: Prevent cross-contamination and inspect materials for quality issues
- Machine Operation: Load and regulate grinding machinery to maintain consistent output
- Packaging and Labelling: Bag and label processed materials with correct details
- Stock and Supply: Transport and supply raw materials to production areas as required
- Goods Handling: Assist with unloading, checking, and storing incoming deliveries
- Traceability Management: Maintain accurate records and ensure correct material tracking
- Housekeeping Standards: Keep work areas clean and manage dust control procedures
- Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all PPE requirements and safety procedures at all times
- Attention To Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality when handling materials
- Organisation Skills: Methodical and structured approach to tasks
- Process Adherence: Ability to follow procedures consistently and accurately
- Manual Handling Capability: Comfortable lifting and moving materials up to 25kg
- Teamwork: Able to support production teams and work collaboratively
- Forklift Licence: Valid forklift truck certification
- Manufacturing Experience: Previous experience in plastics manufacturing or materials handling
