Pastoral Manager / Inclusion Manager Support students to re-engage with learning by leading a calm, restorative internal suspension provision. The organisation seeks an approachable, confident communicator who can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents. SALARY: £28,696 per annum FTE (£24,060 Actual) + Benefits LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks): 8.15am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am to 3.45pm Friday. Hours may change for operational reasons, and support staff may be asked to work during site opening hours of 6.00am to 10.30pm. The Pastoral Manager / Inclusion Manager will lead the internal suspension provision and restorative practice. Working with pastoral colleagues and senior leaders, the Pastoral Manager / Inclusion Manager will support behaviour plans, staff coaching and inclusive strategies. The Pastoral Manager / Inclusion Manager will use behaviour data, mentoring and strong family relationships to help students re-engage with learning and strengthen a positive school culture. DUTIES Your duties as the Pastoral Manager / Inclusion Manager include: Internal Suspension Room Oversight: Lead the day-to-day provision, using reflective and restorative practices and positive reinforcement to support re-engagement with lessons Restorative Practice and Staff Coaching: Train and coach staff, facilitate restorative conversations and help resolve conflict while building positive relationships Behaviour Support Planning: Oversee support plans for students with additional needs and challenges, working with teachers and support staff on inclusive strategies Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse provision effectiveness and report student behaviour trends and outcomes to the Head of Years Student Mentoring and Relationships: Mentor key students and build strong relationships with students, parents and external agencies Policy and Student Engagement: Oversee the whole-school mobile phone policy and procedures and welcome students at the gates to build positive family relationships CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Very good interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with students, staff and parents DESIRABLE Experience working in secondary education, ideally within inclusion or pastoral support Good understanding of restorative practice and its application in a school setting Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills Strong leadership and team-building abilities with a collaborative approach to professional development Data analysis and interpretation skills Ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents and staff Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people BENEFITS Supportive team environment where staff are valued High-quality CPD programmes Career progression opportunities One fully paid day off per academic year to support personal events Trial two-week October half-term break in October 2026; if the organisation returns to one week from 2027, contractual working weeks and salary will increase accordingly Extensive department resources and facilities Cycle-to-Work scheme through salary sacrifice Staff membership rates at a modern leisure centre Enrolment in a large UK public sector pension scheme The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
