An excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead and coordinate school operations, ensuring compliance, value for money and high-quality services that support outstanding educational outcomes.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Operations Manager to play a key role in the effective day-to-day running of a busy school environment. As an Operations Manager you will work closely with senior leaders and operational teams to oversee administration, health and safety, estates, catering, compliance and contract management, ensuring services are efficient, compliant and deliver excellent value for money.

The Operations Manager will provide strong leadership across operational functions, driving continuous improvement, supporting risk management and ensuring the school remains a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for students, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Coordinating and overseeing daily operational functions across administration, estates, catering and compliance
  • Risk Management: Identifying, evaluating and managing operational risks including health and safety, data protection and business continuity
  • Contract Management: Managing supplier contracts, monitoring service level agreements and ensuring value for money delivery
  • Budget Oversight: Managing delegated operational budgets in line with procurement and financial policies
  • Team Management: Leading and supporting operational staff, ensuring HR and data protection policies are followed
  • Health and Safety: Overseeing risk assessments, accident reporting, site security and first aid provision
  • Estates Management: Working with estates colleagues to ensure facilities are safe, fit for purpose and support learning outcomes
  • Admissions Support: Working with leadership teams to prioritise admissions and minimise unfilled places
  • Compliance and Reporting: Preparing reports and attending meetings, including contributing to governance and trust-level reporting

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

  • GCSEs at grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in operational management within a school or service-based environment
  • Proven experience of leading and developing teams
  • Experience with budget management, risk management and contract oversight
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport

DESIRABLE

  • A recognised degree-level qualification in Management or Business Administration
  • Experience of working with KPIs and service performance monitoring
  • Knowledge of education sector compliance and safeguarding requirements
