SALARY: £40,000 - £45,000 pro rata (Actual Salary for 24 Hours per Week £26,000 - £28,000 per annum) + Benefits
LOCATION: Hybrid working from Home with travel to Vehicle Operating Centres and Third-Party Supplier Locations around Newton Le Willows, Preston, Derby, Rainham, Swansea, Midlands
JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Maternity Cover Contract
WORKING HOURS: 24 Hours per Week over 3 Days per Week
KEY REQUIREMENT: Successful candidates MUST have a full driving licence
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Regional Transport Manager to support the effective management of a mixed commercial vehicle fleet across multiple operating centres. As a Regional Transport Manager, you will provide governance, compliance oversight and expert guidance on transport legislation, operator licences and fleet performance, working closely with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers. This role is home-based with significant national travel and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring safe, compliant and efficient fleet operations throughout the contract period.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Regional Transport Manager include:
- Fleet Compliance Management: Ensuring legal compliance across HGV, LCV and company car fleets in line with UK and EU legislation
- Operator Licence Governance: Managing operator licence administration, audits, monitoring and reporting
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building effective working relationships with fleet contacts, suppliers and operational teams
- Supplier Performance Management: Overseeing third-party leasing and hire providers to agreed service levels
- Site Audits and Visits: Conducting periodic operating centre visits for compliance checks, training and audits
- Policy and Procedure Oversight: Maintaining and implementing fleet policies, procedures, handbooks and safety communications
- Risk and Incident Management: Carrying out risk assessments and monitoring accidents, damage and infringements
- Fleet Performance Reporting: Managing fleet BPIs and ensuring targets and standards are met
- Cross-Regional Cover: Providing cover for the alternate regional transport manager when required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Fully CPC qualified with proven experience in transport and fleet management
- Strong knowledge of UK transport compliance and operator licence requirements
- Experience managing tachograph systems and vehicle compliance records
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Full UK driving licence
DESIRABLE
- Experience managing third-party fleet and leasing suppliers
- Commercial and financial awareness within fleet operations
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and fleet management systems
