We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Junior Electrical Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join a growing project delivery team working across commercial and industrial electrical installations.
As a Junior Electrical Engineer / Assistant Project Manager you will support the Projects Manager with planning, coordination, and control of labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely and in line with programme requirements. The role is predominantly office based, with occasional nationwide site visits, making it ideal for an electrician or site-based professional looking to move into a project-focused office role.
DUTIES
- Project Coordination Support: Assisting with the coordination of labour, subcontractors, materials, and plant
- Procurement Administration: Placing orders for hire plant, materials, and subcontract services
- Health and Safety Documentation: Completing risk assessments, method statements, and associated H&S paperwork
- Design and Specification Control: Ensuring drawings and specifications are issued to site
- Labour Planning: Checking that sufficient labour resources are allocated to each project
- Testing and Certification: Checking and issuing electrical test certificates
- Project Close-Out: Collecting project documentation and issuing O&M manuals to clients
- Cost Control Support: Pricing small projects and variations
- Plant and Equipment Compliance: Ensuring all plant and equipment meets compliance standards
- Quality and ISO Compliance: Completing documentation in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience working on commercial and industrial electrical installation projects
- Experience supporting electrical project management or coordination activities
- City & Guilds Electrical Installation NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or NVQ Level 4 and above)
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Good communication and telephone skills
- A professional, organised, and proactive approach to work
DESIRABLE
- Health and Safety knowledge, including CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme or equivalent
- Experience using electrical estimating software
- Exposure to electrical design software
