SALARY: £42,000 per annum Basic Salary / £49,000 OTE + Benefits
LOCATION: Christchurch, Dorset, South West England
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 50 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday. Various Start/Finish Times between 18:00 - 09:00hrs
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join a busy depot-based transport operation in Christchurch. As a Class 1 HGV Driver you will carry out deliveries and collections safely, complete daily vehicle checks, liaise with the Traffic Office and ensure all paperwork is returned at the end of each shift. This is a great opportunity for a professional driver with a Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, strong customer-facing skills and good UK geographical knowledge. The Class 1 HGV Driver will work as part of a supportive logistics team, with opportunities for training, career development and progression.
DUTIES
- Vehicle Checks: Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects
- Safe Driving: Drive to a safe standard, considering the size and type of vehicle
- Speed Compliance: Keep within speed limits for the vehicle you are driving
- Traffic Office Liaison: Report any issues and collect all paperwork from the Traffic Office
- Route Deliveries: Carry out deliveries in accordance with the planned route
- Issue Reporting: Contact the Traffic Office immediately if any issues impact the delivery schedule
- Collections: Contact the Traffic Office when all deliveries have been made for collection instructions
- Paperwork: Return all paperwork to the Traffic Office at the end of each shift
- PPE and Uniform: Wear supplied uniform and correct PPE for each task, including safety boots and a hi-vis jacket or vest
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Driving Licence: Class 1 Driving Licence
- Driver CPC: Driver CPC qualification card
- DCLC Training: Completed required DCLC training hours
- Customer Service: Excellent customer-facing skills
- UK Geography: Good knowledge of UK geography
- Problem Solving: Confidence to problem solve when issues arise
- Professional Approach: Integrity, professionalism and a safe working attitude
- Commute: Able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work
