Join our residential services team to support adult residents in a safe, secure, and positive environment while maintaining excellent standards of care, safeguarding, and night-time monitoring.

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Night Support Worker to support adult men within a residential approved premises setting. You will help maintain a safe environment, promote routine, and support residents throughout the night. The role requires monitoring wellbeing, safeguarding residents, and ensuring compliance with house rules. You will work closely with colleagues, using your communication skills and attention to detail to record information accurately and maintain clear boundaries. This role suits someone organised, calm under pressure, and confident using basic IT systems, with the ability to motivate and support individuals with diverse needs.

Duties

  • Maintain a watchful presence: monitor residents and the premises throughout each night shift.
  • Conduct regular checks: carry out hourly checks between 12:00 am and 7:00 am.
  • Record information: log relevant issues accurately in the building’s records.
  • Support night routines: help residents follow consistent close-down procedures.
  • Monitor compliance: work with the Project Support Worker to ensure house rules are followed.
  • Respond to calls: answer incoming calls overnight and manage issues appropriately.
  • Escalate concerns: contact the On-Call Worker in emergencies or high-risk situations.
  • Undertake domestic tasks: complete general cleaning, admin tasks and data entry.
  • Attend training: participate in essential training, meetings and development opportunities.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic Excel.
  • Understanding of safeguarding.
  • Ability to work night shifts and weekends.
  • Effective communication and strong listening skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with residents and colleagues.
  • Capacity to work independently and handle stressful situations.
  • Empathy, tact and discretion when handling sensitive matters.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a residential setting.
  • Understanding of factors influencing offending.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety principles.
