An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAD Engineer / Design Engineer to join a growing organisation within the engineering and construction sector, supporting projects from site survey through to completion using 2D and 3D CAD design.
Location: Newbury, Berkshire | Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 per annum + Benefits | Job type: Full-Time, Permanent

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CAD Engineer / Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation supporting projects within the construction and utilities sector. This full-time, permanent role is based at a head office location near Newbury and involves close collaboration with management, site, and workshop teams.
As a CAD Engineer / Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing accurate working drawings, fabrication details, and 3D models in line with client and asset standards. You will support the full project lifecycle, from initial site surveys through to final delivery.
The CAD Engineer / Design Engineer will also contribute to quality control, document management, and supply chain liaison, ensuring designs are compliant, technically robust, and delivered efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Site Survey Work: Attending sites to capture accurate technical and dimensional information.
- 2D and 3D CAD Design: Producing general arrangement drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
- Fabrication Drawings: Creating detailed drawings to support manufacture and installation.
- Parts and Fixings Lists: Preparing accurate materials, components, and fixings schedules.
- Procurement Support: Liaising with the supply chain and supporting purchasing processes.
- Quality Control: Checking drawings and outputs meet required technical standards.
- Document Control: Managing, updating, and maintaining design documentation.
- Asset Standards Compliance: Working to client and industry asset requirements.
- 3D Modelling: Developing detailed models to support project delivery and coordination.
Candidate Requirements
- Essential:
- Previous experience in a CAD Engineer or Design Engineer role within construction or engineering.
- Experience using Fusion, AutoCAD, and Tekla Structures.
- Strong technical knowledge with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Full UK driving licence due to rural office location.
- Experience within engineering or construction environments.
- Exposure to fabrication or manufacturing processes.
