Plant Hire Mechanic / Fitter – An excellent opportunity to join a growing service team, working across North Wales and the North West, carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance on forklifts and material handling equipment.
SALARY: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum (Depending on Experience) + Overtime + Benefits
LOCATION: Field Based role near Connah’s Quay covering the Northwest and North Wales
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Plant Hire Mechanic / Fitter to join a well-established and expanding organisation supporting customers across North Wales and the Northwest. As a Plant Hire Mechanic / Fitter you will be responsible for the servicing, inspection, fault finding and repair of a wide range of forklifts, pallet trucks, pedestrian stackers, reach trucks, order pickers, mobile gantries, access platforms and other material handling equipment, working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge who enjoys variety, problem-solving and delivering a high standard of customer service in a field-based environment.
DUTIES
- Service and Repair Equipment: Carrying out servicing, repairs and inspections on forklifts and material handling equipment
- Fault Diagnosis: Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic tools
- Preventative Maintenance: Completing planned maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety
- Component Replacement: Identifying, repairing or replacing defective parts and components
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all work complies with health, safety and company procedures
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate electronic records of service and repair work
- Team Collaboration: Working with colleagues to resolve complex technical issues
- Inspections: Carrying out service inspections and thorough examinations to GN28 / UKMHA standards
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Industry-recognised qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ, or equivalent practical experience
- Previous experience working with mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
- Experience servicing and repairing forklifts, plant or material handling equipment
- Full UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points
- IT literate with the ability to complete electronic service records
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Residing within a 25-mile radius of Connah’s Quay
DESIRABLE
- Forklift Truck Operator’s Licence
- Experience with telematics and CAN bus systems or willingness to learn
- Background working in customer-facing, field-based engineering roles
