An excellent opportunity for a practical Maintenance Operative to carry out general property repairs, decoration, grounds maintenance and upkeep across a range of housing properties.

The organisation is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Maintenance Operative to join its housing team. Working across a range of properties, you will carry out general maintenance, decoration, repairs, garden maintenance, grounds work and removals, helping to ensure properties are maintained to a safe, practical and welcoming standard. As the Maintenance Operative, you will be confident working independently, able to prioritise your own workload and comfortable travelling between different sites. You will also have good communication skills and the ability to work positively with tenants, colleagues and wider teams.

DUTIES
  • Carry out general maintenance, decoration and repair work across properties
  • Complete general garden maintenance tasks, including cutting grass and trimming hedges
  • Carry out general grounds work, including building and maintaining pathways and walkways
  • Complete general removal tasks, including taking rubbish to the local refuse centre or moving items between sites
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work carried out
  • Work independently and use initiative to complete tasks safely and effectively
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, colleagues and other team members
  • Support wider projects and team activities as required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIAL
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work alone and unsupervised
  • Health and safety knowledge and experience, with knowledge of safe working principles
  • Ability to use own initiative and maintain a positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to carry out tasks unsupervised and prioritise own workload
  • Able to work as part of a team and support projects when required
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with tenants and team members
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Full driving licence, with the ability to travel between all required locations

  • Experience of basic woodworking / joinery
  • Experience of basic plumbing
