SALARY: £37,000 to £40,000 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Plymouth, Devon (PL4) candidates must live within 30 minute commute

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 3 days on, 3 days off shift pattern, 07:00 to 18:00, including weekends and bank holidays. Please note: The role also includes out-of-hours emergency response cover, so candidates must live within a 30-minute commute of the site.

JOB OVERVIEW: This is an exciting opportunity to join a skilled engineering team in a varied, practical and important operational environment. The Maintenance Engineer will help keep essential life support, mechanical, electrical and building services running safely and efficiently. As the Maintenance Engineer, you will carry out upkeep, repair, fault finding and problem solving across critical life support systems, 3 phase motors, pumps, electrical installations, HVAC and general building maintenance. The role would suit a Maintenance Engineer with either an electrical or mechanical bias, a positive attitude and the capacity to learn. Full training in aquatic systems will be provided.

DUTIES: Your duties as the Maintenance Engineer include:

  • Maintain Critical Systems: Carry out upkeep, repairs and routine maintenance on life support systems and related equipment
  • Repair Pumps and Motors: Maintain and repair 3 phase motors, pumps and associated engineering components
  • Complete Electrical Work: Support electrical installation, repair, testing, fault finding and general electrical maintenance
  • Support Mechanical Systems: Work with mechanical equipment including valves, seals and associated systems
  • Maintain Building Services: Carry out HVAC and general building maintenance to support safe and efficient site operations
  • Diagnose Faults: Identify, investigate and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
  • Respond to Emergencies: Provide out-of-hours emergency response support as part of the engineering team rota
  • Follow Safe Working Practices: Work safely, professionally and in line with operational requirements at all times

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified and experienced engineer with either an electrical or mechanical bias
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new systems and working practices
  • Strong fault finding, repair and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work the stated shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Must live within a 30-minute commute of the site due to out-of-hours emergency response requirements
  • Electrical-biased candidates should have a detailed understanding of electrical control panels, control systems, domestic or commercial wiring and 3 phase motors
  • Mechanical-biased candidates should be proficient with pneumatic valves, manual valves and mechanical seals
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK, with documented evidence required as part of the recruitment process
