An excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement leader to shape strategy, lead transformation and deliver commercial value, assurance, supplier performance and measurable outcomes across a complex organisation.
As a Procurement Director, you will:
- Develop and deliver the organisation-wide procurement strategy, aligned with corporate objectives, financial plans and business priorities.
- Oversee strategic sourcing, category management, cost optimisation, supplier performance and contract management across a diverse spend portfolio.
- Lead procurement transformation, embedding best practice, robust governance, systems improvement and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to Executive and senior leaders, reporting on procurement performance, risk, opportunity and outcomes.
- Establish and embed Supplier Relationship Management frameworks, performance measures, supplier partnerships and contract lifecycle controls.
- Lead high-value procurement exercises and negotiate major contracts, frameworks and commercial arrangements.
- Ensure procurement activity complies with the Procurement Act 2023, public procurement requirements, audit standards and internal governance.
- Lead, coach and develop procurement colleagues and build commercial capability across the organisation.
- Ensure procurement supports social value, sustainability goals, ethical sourcing and positive community impact.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Degree educated, or equivalent experience.
- CIPS qualified / MCIPS.
- Extensive senior procurement leadership experience at Head of or Director level.
- Proven experience delivering procurement transformation within complex organisations.
- Strong knowledge of UK public procurement legislation, including the Procurement Act 2023.
- Experience managing high-value, complex procurement and contract portfolios.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver savings while maintaining quality and value.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills at Executive and Board level.
- Strong analytical, project management and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing procurement teams.
DESIRABLE
- Experience within housing, local government, the NHS or another regulated environment.
