SALARY: £14.00 - £16.00 per Hour + Benefits

LOCATION: Hyde, Tameside, Greater Manchester, North West England

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 36 Hours per Week – 06:00-13:30 / 13:30-21:00, Monday to Thursday and 06:00-12:00 / 12:00-18:00 Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Extrusion Operator with experience operating extrusion machinery within a manufacturing or production environment. As the Extrusion Operator you will run, pack and monitor a PVC extrusion line, supporting production programmes while working to agreed quality, speed and close tolerance requirements. The role is ideal for someone with a practical, hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and experience using measuring equipment, completing dimensional checks, quality inspections and production records. As an Extrusion Operator you will work closely with supervisors, maintenance teams and colleagues across shifts to support safe, efficient and high-quality production.

DUTIES

  • Product Packing: Pack finished products to specification and customer requirements
  • Dimensional Checks: Carry out dimensional checks using measuring equipment to ensure products meet close tolerances
  • Quality Inspections: Perform regular visual quality inspections throughout the production process
  • Production Records: Record production data, quality results, scrap levels and downtime accurately
  • Issue Reporting: Identify and report product defects, machine issues or process abnormalities promptly
  • Line Support: Support tool changes, line start-ups and shutdown procedures
  • Housekeeping: Maintain housekeeping standards and keep work areas clean and organised
  • Health and Safety: Work in accordance with health and safety procedures, quality standards and company policies
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist with initiatives to improve efficiency, quality and waste reduction
  • Team Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance staff and colleagues across shifts

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Extrusion Experience: Previous experience operating extrusion machinery, ideally within PVC or plastics manufacturing
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments
  • Quality Standards: Experience working to close tolerances and quality specifications
  • Measuring Equipment: Ability to use measuring equipment such as callipers, micrometres, gauges or tape measures
  • Attention To Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Problem Solving: Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Numeracy Skills: Basic numeracy and recording skills for production and quality documentation
  • Flexibility: Flexible attitude and willingness to support different production activities

DESIRABLE

  • Tooling Knowledge: Knowledge of extrusion tooling and machine adjustments
  • Material Handling: Forklift licence or material handling experience
  • Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
