A skilled CNC Turner / Machinist is required to programme, set and operate CNC lathes, producing high-quality precision components using FANUC or Siemens controls within a modern manufacturing environment.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CNC Turner / Machinist to join a precision engineering and manufacturing team producing high specification component parts and assemblies. As a CNC Turner / Machinist you will programme, set and operate CNC lathes, working with complex engineering drawings, exotic materials and FANUC or Siemens control systems. The CNC Turner / Machinist will support quality, tooling, process improvement and production efficiency, helping the company deliver orders on time and to high standards.

DUTIES

  • CNC Lathe Operation: Programme, set and operate CNC lathes to produce orders on time and to required quality standards.
  • Precision Machining: Machine exotic materials, including 625 and 718, using FANUC or Siemens control systems.
  • Engineering Drawings: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings to support accurate component manufacture.
  • Programme Setting: Set or modify existing CNC programmes to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Inspection and Measurement: Use measuring equipment and basic CMM to check components and maintain quality standards.
  • Tooling Improvements: Implement minor tooling changes and suggest major tooling improvements where required.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest production and machining improvements to the engineering department.
  • Machine Loading: Load varying size components into machines safely and competently.
  • Team Support: Assist and instruct others while working effectively alone and as part of a team.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Competent machinist with experience in a similar CNC turning, CNC machining or precision engineering role.
  • Ability to understand complex engineering drawings.
  • Experience setting or modifying existing CNC programmes.
  • Experience using measuring equipment and basic CMM.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to follow management direction to achieve results.
  • Excellent timekeeping and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm, desire to learn and ability to work alone and as part of a team.

DESIRABLE

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in Engineering preferred.
