SALARY: £39,269 per annum + Overtime + Subsistence + Van + Benefits
LOCATION: Wakefield, West Yorkshire with national travel to client sites
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week. 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break. 8am to 1pm, Friday
JOB OVERVIEW: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Field Service Engineer with an apprentice-trained mechanical engineering background and experience working within heavy engineering, plant maintenance, machine build or field service environments. As a Field Service Engineer you will carry out preventative maintenance, reactive service calls, installation, commissioning and service checks on specialist brick making equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The Field Service Engineer will travel extensively throughout the UK and occasionally overseas, sometimes at short notice, so a flexible approach and full UK driving licence are essential. This is a varied hands-on role where you will use engineering drawings, fault finding, maintenance, health and safety awareness, COSHH knowledge and continuous improvement skills to deliver high-quality service work.
DUTIES: Your duties as the Field Service Engineer include:
- Service and Maintenance: Carry out service calls on a preventative and reactive basis on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Installation and Commissioning: Travel across the UK and occasionally overseas to install, commission and maintain customer equipment
- Equipment Checks: Carry out periodic service checks on customers equipment to ensure safe and effective operation
- Safe Working Practices: Work safely from cherry-pickers, scaffolding and other platforms in compliance with Working at Height Regulations
- Assembly Standards: Ensure assembly work is completed using approved methods and to the required quality standards
- COSHH Compliance: Ensure the safe use and disposal of hazardous materials in line with COSHH regulations
- Health and Safety: Observe and comply with health, safety and security requirements at all times
- Quality Procedures: Take responsibility for the quality of work produced and ensure relevant quality procedures are followed
- Continuous Improvement: Make recommendations to improve assembly methods, techniques and working practices
- Factory Support: Assist in assembling machinery in the factory when not working offsite
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification: Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer background
- Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and customers
- Deadline Focused: Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high standards
- Innovation: Ability to initiate new ideas and improvements where required
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence
- Flexible Approach: Willingness to travel at short notice and undertake weekend work when required
- Heavy Engineering: Experience in a heavy engineering environment
- Problem Solving: Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to solve problems as they arise
- Team Working: Able to work independently and as part of a small team in an inclusive and respectful environment
DESIRABLE:
- Field Service: Previous experience in a field service position
- Machine Build: Experience working within a machine build environment
- Plant Maintenance: Experience within a plant maintenance background
