A great opportunity has arisen for a Kitchen Assistant to join a friendly, hard‑working catering team. Working as the Kitchen Assistant, you will help deliver high quality meals in a clean, safe and welcoming kitchen environment for residents. As the Kitchen Assistant, you will support food preparation, meal service, kitchen cleaning, dining room cleaning, stock rotation, deliveries and general kitchen duties, while following health and safety food regulations. Previous kitchen experience would be desirable, but it is not essential, as full training will be provided. The role would suit someone reliable, caring and able to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
Duties:- Maintaining health and safety food regulations
- Preparing and serving food and cleaning the kitchen
- Setting up the service area for breakfast, lunch and evening meals
- Cleaning the dining room, kitchen, storerooms and outside storage area
- Checking in goods for quality control and packing goods away on delivery
- Assisting the chef with the daily running of the service
- Supporting the Chef Manager with deliveries, stock rotation and removing any out‑of‑date items
- Communicating when products are running low
- Essential: Ability to follow instructions from the Chef Manager and Catering Manager
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable engaging with elderly and vulnerable customers and their families in a caring and respectful way
- Confident using computers for online training and basic systems
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to working well as part of a team
- Desirable: Previous experience working in a kitchen environment
- 25 days’ holiday (Plus Bank Holidays) increasing up to 28 days with 3 years of service
