A Kitchen Assistant with a can-do attitude, excellent customer service skills and basic IT literacy is required to join a housing association based in Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, FULL TRAINING PROVIDED.
Previous experience working in a kitchen/catering environment would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided.
SALARY: £12.00 per hour + Generous Benefits

SHIFT PATTERNS: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 10am - 2pm, OR 9.30am - 1.30pm
JOB OVERVIEW: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant with a can-do attitude, excellent customer service skills and basic IT literacy. As the Kitchen Assistant, you will join a friendly and hard-working team within an assisting living residence, preparing and serving food. You will also have responsibility for restaurant front of house service delivery. Working as the Kitchen Assistant, you will follow Health, Safety and Food Hygiene standards when cleaning the kitchen.
DUTIES:
- Preparation and service of food, and cleaning of kitchen
- Food service operative preparing packed teas and serving meals to residents meeting Company and Environmental Health Standards.
- Taking responsibility for particular dietary and cultural needs
- Completing your segments in all cleaning records
- Reporting resident feedback to manager
- Carrying out Health & Safety & Food Hygiene standards checks as directed by the chef manager and taking responsibility that all practices meet the statutory regulations, including the Registered Homes Act 1984, and Health & Safety policy
- Supporting Manager in preparing and responding to inspections and audits by external authorities and other bodies and fulfilling reporting requirements
- Acting up as chef as required following induction
- Maintaining the standards set by the Catering Manager
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to engage with vulnerable customers and their families
- Can-do attitude
- Basic IT Literacy skills
- Ability to follow instructions from Chef Manager and Catering Manager
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment previously is not essential; full training provided
