A fantastic new job opportunity for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Design Engineer to join a dynamic Design & Development team within a successful global manufacturing business.

As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Design Engineer you will support the full product development lifecycle including concept design, 3D CAD modelling, prototyping, testing, validation and production. You will gain hands‑on exposure to manufacturing processes including injection moulding, steel pressing and polymer extrusion.

The role offers the opportunity to work with Autodesk Inventor, FEA, MoldFlow analysis and rapid prototyping technologies while contributing to innovative mechanical and product design projects used globally. This opportunity would suit a motivated graduate with a Product Design or similar degree, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in mechanical engineering, CAD design, manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Duties:
  • Creating 3D CAD models: using Autodesk Inventor to develop parts, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Supporting product development: assisting with concept generation, prototyping, testing and component approval activities.
  • Applying engineering principles: using mechanical and product design fundamentals across engineering projects.
  • Developing DFM knowledge: supporting Design for Manufacture activities within a live production environment.
  • Producing rapid prototypes: using 3D printing and in-house prototyping equipment to support development work.
  • Conducting testing & validation: supporting product testing, analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Selecting suitable materials: evaluating materials for product performance, durability and manufacturing suitability.
  • Collaborating across departments: assisting with manufacturing documentation and installation instructions.
  • Creating product visuals: producing rendered images and visual content for catalogues and promotional materials.
  • Supporting manufacturing projects: working closely with internal teams on engineering and development activities.
Candidate requirements:
  • Completion of a Product Design degree or similar engineering or design discipline.
  • Previous experience using 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Genuine passion for mechanical engineering, manufacturing and product development.
  • Understanding of mechanical design, materials selection and manufacturing processes.
  • Able to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
  • Capable of supporting practical engineering and design solutions.
  • Keen to develop technical skills and grow professionally within the business.
  • Comfortable supporting prototype development and practical manufacturing activities.
