JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Front End Developer to work on business-critical digital applications for major public and private sector organisations with client project teams of 3 to 10 people, and each project typically lasting between 3 and 9 months. Clients are typically central government and public sector bodies, with some major private-sector corporates. Previous clients include; Ministry of Defence, Emergency Services, Home Office, HMRC, Foreign Office, Department for Education, and NHS.
As a Senior Front End Developer, you will contribute to both front-end and back-end development, taking ownership of UI/UX decisions and supporting the delivery of scalable, high-performance web solutions. The Senior Front End Developer will collaborate closely with Project Leads, Business Analysts, and technical colleagues, ensuring applications meet functional, usability, and security requirements. This role is office-based and requires eligibility for government SC-level security clearance, offering long-term stability and exposure to high-impact projects.
DUTIES
- Application Development: Designing and developing high-quality corporate web-based applications
- Front-End Engineering: Building responsive, accessible interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks and advanced CSS
- Back-End Contribution: Supporting server-side development using SQL and a low-code development platform
- UI/UX Leadership: Acting as technical and UI/UX lead on assigned client projects
- Scalable Design: Creating performant and scalable solutions suitable for large organisations
- Collaboration: Working closely with Project Leads and Business Analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practice
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience in software development within a commercial environment
- Experience with at least one JavaScript framework such as Vue.js, React, or Angular
- Strong UI/UX skills with advanced knowledge of CSS
- Experience working with SQL databases at a basic to intermediate level
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Eligibility to obtain government SC-level security clearance, including UK residency requirements
- DESIRABLE
- Experience using graphic design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- Exposure to low-code development platforms
- Knowledge of ITIL principles or certification
