JOB OVERVIEW

Health & Safety Officer with experience in a manufacturing environment and a recognised professional H&S qualification (degree, NEBOSH & IOSH) is required for a well-established company in Hinckey, Leicestershire.

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 per annum + Attendance Bonus of £1,040 per annum + Benefits

Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire (LE10)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time applicants considered)

Working Hours: Core hours 07:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday with some flexibility

We provide an operational H&S & Wellbeing Service to enable the delivery of quality products and services in line with company process standards and operating procedures. You will provide expert advice on H&S matters and manage activities covering fire safety, first aid, noise, working conditions, safeguarding, machinery and related areas.

DUTIES

  • Strategy: Work with the HR Manager and leadership teams to create and deliver short, medium and long-term operational H&S & wellbeing strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement for H&S; champion business-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Support the HR Manager with project actions and delivery of key business initiatives.
  • KPI: Deliver targets and ensure KPIs are met for business growth and success; analyse and control H&S targets within budget and data; prepare and deliver weekly/monthly H&S KPIs to the Management Team.
  • Operations: Devise and deliver the H&S & Wellbeing Strategy aligned to the business plans; lead the Company’s H&S Policies, Procedures and agenda; oversee H&S related training including SOPs.
  • Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are investigated; complete relevant paperwork (including RIDDOR) and update management.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits for compliance; report failures; implement corrective actions and update management.
  • Review and update Risk Assessments and Method Statements to minimise risk exposure.
  • Coordinate the Company H&S Committee and meetings; complete minutes.
  • Liaison with external contractors and advisors; stay up-to-date with current and pending legislation to maintain H&S standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S regulations; manage and review H&S systems.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment and in a H&S role.
  • Experience in the window industry is advantageous.
  • Recognised professional H&S qualification (degree, NEBOSH & IOSH).
  • Working knowledge of H&S management systems.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, with high attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to use initiative and problem-solve; strong communication, teamwork and people skills.
  • Professional and courteous attitude; act with integrity and honesty; positive attitude to innovation and change.
