This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Commercial to drive commercial strategy across clinical services and product offerings, supporting contract retention, tender success and sustainable growth. As the Head of Commercial, you will analyse market and financial data, identify new products and services, develop pricing strategies, support tender submissions and build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams. The Head of Commercial will also help maximise profitability across existing contracts, explore new markets, support business planning and contribute to the future commercial direction of the organisation.
DUTIES
- Commercial Strategy: Drive the commercial elements of the strategic development plan, supporting growth across established and new markets
- Market Analysis: Develop reporting, analyse market trends and use insight to identify opportunities for new products, services and commercial growth
- Tender Support: Work with the tenders team to define scope, value, pricing strategy and key themes for tender submissions
- Contract Negotiation: Lead post-award negotiations and ensure contracts support commercial goals
- Contract Growth: Monitor contract durations, pricing, discounts, rebates and extension opportunities to retain and grow contracts
- Profitability Improvement: Develop strategies to maximise profitability through product use, pricing, increased revenue and cost-effective service solutions
- Business Planning: Prepare business plans, growth strategies and marketing plans for products and services
- Customer Relationships: Develop relationships across the industry to maximise commercial opportunities
- Supplier Management: Build supplier relationships, oversee supplier performance and negotiate pricing and rebate opportunities
- Cross-Functional Working: Work closely with finance, business intelligence, central functions and operational colleagues to support informed commercial decisions
- Quality and Compliance: Contribute to quality, health and safety, and policy standards through strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- ESSENTIAL
- Proven experience in a commercial leadership role within medical devices, healthcare technology, prosthetics/orthotics, or related sectors
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering commercial growth strategies
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret market and financial data to inform strategic decisions
- A proactive, collaborative and commercially driven mindset
- DESIRABLE
- Experience of working within prosthetic or orthotic manufacturing
- A strong understanding of procurement and contracting within the NHS
- Supplier negotiation experience
- A background in working with clinical teams or rehabilitation services
