A fantastic opportunity for a graduate engineer to develop a career in production engineering, manufacturing processes, CAD, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, production troubleshooting, jigs and fixtures, and data analysis.

As the Graduate Manufacturing & Production Engineer you will support production processes, manufacturing documentation, CAD design, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and data analysis across materials including metals, plastics, foams, plywood and textiles. The role will suit a proactive graduate with strong problem-solving skills who wants hands-on exposure to production troubleshooting, project engineering, jigs and fixtures, process improvement and manufacturing operations.

DUTIES

  • Continuous Improvement: Plan, implement and manage improvement initiatives from concept through to completion, supporting efficiency, productivity, quality and cost reduction.
  • Manufacturing Documentation: Create, update and maintain work instructions, SOPs, visual aids and training materials for production and assembly processes.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Support 5S and other lean manufacturing activities, contributing to the optimisation of production planning and operational performance.
  • Production Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production-related technical issues in real time alongside production operatives.
  • Technical Support: Provide hands-on support with machine and tool set-ups, adjustments and operational guidance to minimise downtime.
  • Jigs and Fixtures: Collaborate with production teams to develop concepts for jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids, taking responsibility for detailed design and implementation.
  • Data Collection: Collect, monitor, analyse and report production data to identify trends and support data-driven improvements.
  • Innovation: Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practice, sharing insights that support business improvement.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and develop practical solutions.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects independently, take initiative and proactively address potential issues.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Able to collaborate with colleagues across the organisation, share ideas clearly and apply feedback positively.
  • CAD Software: Experience with computer aided design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or a similar tool.
  • Microsoft Office: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

DESIRABLE

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement tools.
  • Programming: Working knowledge of Python or a similar programming language to assist with in-house software development.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse production data, identify trends and make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Work Experience: Previous experience in a professional workplace, preferably within manufacturing or engineering.
  • ERP Systems: Experience using manufacturing ERP systems.
