JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a General Operative to support the refurbishment, maintenance and preparation of temporary edge protection barriers. As a General Operative you will clean, repair, paint and assemble materials and equipment kits, helping to keep products safe, serviceable and ready for site delivery. The General Operative role would suit someone practical, reliable and hands-on, with good communication skills and a positive team-focused approach.

DUTIES

  • Barrier Maintenance: Maintain, repair and paint edge protection barriers so they remain safe, serviceable and presentable for site use
  • Cleaning and Housekeeping: Carry out cleaning duties and keep work areas tidy, organised and safe
  • Materials Handling: Handle and transport heavy items safely in line with working procedures
  • Kit Preparation: Prepare and assemble materials and equipment kits for delivery to site
  • Stock Control: Support stock control activities and help ensure materials and equipment are ready when needed
  • Tools and Equipment: Use tools and equipment safely while following instructions and quality standards
  • Team Working: Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and support daily operations
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant health and safety legislation and procedures

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a labourer, operative, warehouse, workshop or similar practical role would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Able to follow instructions and complete physical tasks safely and accurately
  • Comfortable using tools and equipment safely
  • Able to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions
  • Good understanding of safety practices and procedures
  • Good communication skills and able to work well within a team
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable, with a strong work ethic
