The Tool Fitter / Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of small hire equipment, including pipe welding tools and general power tools. As a Tool Fitter / Mechanical Fitter, you will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults, carry out inspections and ensure repairs are completed to a high standard. The role would suit a Tool Fitter / Mechanical Fitter with previous experience maintaining and repairing tools, equipment or mechanical machinery. Candidates currently working as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Plant Fitter or in a similar hands-on mechanical repair role who are interested in moving into tool hire will also be considered. DUTIES Your duties as the Tool Fitter / Mechanical Fitter include: Inspection and Servicing: Carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of tools and equipment in the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults, identifying and rectifying defects efficiently Hire Preparation: Prepare tools and equipment for hire, ensuring machines are safe, compliant and ready for customer use Maintenance Records: Ensure all repairs and servicing are accurately documented using the companys maintenance systems Safety Checks: Carry out safety inspections and ensure all equipment complies with relevant legislation and company standards Loading Support: Assist drivers with the safe unloading and loading of plant and equipment at the depot Returned Equipment Checks: Inspect all equipment returned from hire, checking for damage, missing items and cleanliness, and report any defects or discrepancies Workshop Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop, adhering to health and safety policies and housekeeping standards Teamwork: Work effectively as part of the workshop team to meet customer demand and deadlines Training and Development: Participate in training and continuous professional development to maintain technical knowledge and skills CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Previous experience maintaining, repairing or fault-finding tools, equipment or mechanical machinery Good mechanical knowledge, with the ability to diagnose and repair faults Ability to carry out inspections, servicing and repairs to a high standard while meeting deadlines Willingness to assist with loading, unloading and inspecting returned hire equipment as part of the workshop operation Flexible approach to work with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude with a strong work ethic Hard working and physically fit due to the nature of the equipment DESIRABLE Tool Hire experience BENEFITS Salary sacrifice Pension scheme 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays Life Assurance Additional Holiday buy back scheme Overtime opportunity Eye care vouchers Commitment to learning and development with structured in house and external training with career progression Perkbox Employee rewards with discounts up to 10% weekly groceries, holidays, vouchers, gym membership, plus much more Long service recognition HOW TO APPLY To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
