We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a HLTA Teaching Assistant (Senior Learning Mentor) to join a supportive secondary education setting focused on inclusion, student progress and high-quality learning support. As a HLTA Teaching Assistant (Senior Learning Mentor) you will deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, support classroom teaching strategies and contribute to SEND support, behaviour management and student development. Working collaboratively, the HLTA Teaching Assistant (Senior Learning Mentor) will guide Learning Mentors, monitor student progress, liaise with staff and parents, and help create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

DUTIES

  • Deliver Targeted Interventions: Plan and deliver 1:1 and small group support sessions
  • Support Classroom Learning: Work alongside teachers to implement effective strategies
  • Monitor Student Progress: Assess, record and report on development and attainment
  • Develop Support Strategies: Share effective approaches with teaching staff
  • Line Manage Learning Mentors: Support and develop team members’ practice
  • Support SEND Students: Provide tailored support for a range of additional needs
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with parents, staff and external agencies
  • Maintain Student Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation
  • Promote Inclusion: Facilitate reintegration and engagement in learning
  • Contribute to School Activities: Support break duties and extracurricular activities as required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or similar education support role
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience, or willingness to work towards GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above (or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD or learning needs
  • Ability to plan, deliver and assess intervention programmes
  • Confident using ICT and education technology to support learning
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Highly organised with strong record-keeping skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
