We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a strategic and dynamic Head of Finance who is a qualified Accountant with solid post-qualification experience, excellent leadership skills and the confidence to present to Board and Committee level. Working as the Head of Finance you will lead the Finance Team and play a key role in shaping the financial future of the organisation. As a vital member of the Leadership Team, the Head of Finance will ensure the delivery of a proactive, compliant and high-performing finance service that supports the business objectives and drives long-term financial sustainability.

DUTIES

  • Lead the development and execution of robust financial strategies, overseeing all aspects of business planning, financial control, reporting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide expert financial insight and analysis to inform major projects, new business initiatives, and investment decisions, while ensuring alignment with organisational goals and maintaining the company’s G1 status.
  • Effective management of financial risk.
  • Development of the Value for Money strategy.
  • Oversight of complex financial operations such as statutory accounting, payroll, procurement, taxation, and intercompany arrangements.
  • Take the lead on treasury activities and long-term business planning, ensuring the organisation remains financially viable and resilient.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience.
  • A deep understanding of financial strategy, treasury management, and financial control frameworks.
  • A strong track record of leading high-performing finance teams, including other qualified professionals.
  • Experience of managing multi-million-pound budgets, capital investment programmes, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Thrives in complex and regulated environments where integrity, professionalism, and strategic thinking are essential.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in creating and working with spreadsheets and computerised ledgers.
  • IT literate – Microsoft Office software.
  • Adept at producing and interpreting financial reports, managing long-term business planning processes, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Manages risk, maintains compliance, and delivers value for money.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and commercially aware.
  • Confident in presenting at Board and committee level, and comfortable navigating the governance requirements of a regulated organisation.
  • Lead by example and driven to continuously improve processes, systems, and outcomes.
  • Ideally, you have experience in the housing sector or a similar not-for-profit or regulated environment.
  • A passion for delivering great service and making a positive impact.
  • A Standard DBS check will be required, in accordance with the organisation’s Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
