We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join a Family Safeguarding Team supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
As a Domestic Abuse Practitioner you will manage a caseload, assess risk, develop safety and support plans, and work closely with children’s services and partner agencies.
The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will provide practical, emotional and trauma-informed support to help improve safety, wellbeing and outcomes for adults, children and families.
Duties
- Case Management: Hold and manage a caseload of individuals and families, completing assessments, support plans, safety plans and case reviews.
- Victim and Survivor Support: Provide practical and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse using a trauma-informed approach.
- Safeguarding: Work to reduce risk of harm to adults and children, escalating concerns and responding to increased risk through agreed multi‑agency plans.
- Family Safeguarding: Work as part of a multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding Team supporting parents and carers whose children are open to intervention.
- Support Planning: Develop care plans and support plans for children’s services and coordinate support within the community.
- Professional Advice: Provide advice and guidance to other professionals supporting children and families affected by domestic abuse.
- Partnership Working: Work collaboratively with statutory, voluntary and community services to improve safety, independence and access to support.
- Records and Reporting: Maintain accurate case records, outcome evidence and reports in line with organisational procedures, confidentiality and GDPR.
- Meetings and Reviews: Attend relevant meetings, case reviews and multi‑agency forums, including CIN, CP, TAC, TAF, MARAC or MAPPA where appropriate.

Essential

- Relevant previous or current employment or work experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and children in a safeguarding capacity.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse, its impact on individuals and families, and safe engagement approaches.
- Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
- Experience managing a caseload, working to timescales and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to build and maintain professional boundaries with service users and stakeholders.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Teams and other virtual platforms.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related field.
- Experience supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, including risk assessment and safety planning.
- Experience managing complex casework involving trauma, mental health, substance misuse, child abuse or crisis intervention.
- Understanding of motivational interviewing and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience preparing reports for case conferences or similar proceedings.
- Knowledge of housing, criminal, civil and welfare rights legislation relating to domestic abuse.
