Job Description
Mechanical Structural Design Engineer who has proven experience in designing and detailing Structural / Mechanical plant and/or Equipment, with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD, is required for a well-established company based in Bedworth, Coventry, West Midlands.
As a successful candidate you will be involved in a range of projects from small modifications to existing plant and machinery, to large scale design and R & D projects for new tunnelling equipment. You will be fully engaged in the design process and a key member of the team, using your experience and expertise to provide support and robust guidance to the team.

JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Mechanical Structural Design Engineer who has proven experience in designing and detailing Structural / Mechanical plant and/or Equipment, with experience using structural design software and AutoCAD.
As the Mechanical Structural Design Engineer you will be required to work on design projects as part of a team and individually. Joining the small but busy team will mean you will have to multitask over projects and carry out duties coving all functions of design, detailing and assurance.
Working as the Mechanical Structural Design Engineer will include undertaking structural calculations, preparing GA & fabrication drawings and assembly sketches, producing design reports, bills of materials and specifications. You will also assist in development of operation and maintenance procedures.
This role will suit a highly motivated person who has a broad skill set and has excellent and effective communication skills.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Mechanical Structural Design Engineer include:
- Assisting in the development of conceptual designs
- Preparation of calculations, written reports and drawings
- Checking of design calculations and drawings undertaken by others
- Attend client meetings and site visits as required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive proven experience in Heavy Plant and Equipment design
- Degree/equivalent qualification or HNC and proven experience in Mechanical/Structural Engineering Design
- Ability to design in AutoCAD 2D
- Experience in Autodesk Inventor 3D format (desirable but not essential)
- Experience in the use of structural analysis software
- Ability to use Microsoft office – Publisher/word/excel/PowerPoint
- High level of computer literacy
- Able to think innovatively with a logical approach to problem solving
- Experienced in steel fabrication, applying good engineering practice, with a sound knowledge of welded fabrications
- Experience in validation of designs and specifications
- Checking and approving of component and assembly drawings
- Setting up manufacturing bills of materials and parts lists
- Preparing engineering detail and assembly drawings for production release
- Ability to undertake structural calculations and analysis and to approve designs for manufacture
- Technical reporting and tolerance analysis
- A good understanding of hydraulics, electrics, pneumatic systems and their installations
- Ability to work well under pressure either alone or as part of a team
- Full valid Driving Licence is required
