Job Overview: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Data Systems Analyst to provide dedicated oversight across IT, Projects, Compliance and Finance. As a Data Systems Analyst you will help ensure data entering business systems is accurate, complete and flows correctly through downstream processes, including customer outputs, internal reporting and regulatory submissions. The Data Systems Analyst will map data flows, identify issues, support GDPR compliance, validate duty calculation logic and carrier selection rules, and produce clear reporting on system health and compliance status. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys data governance, process improvement, SQL, stakeholder engagement and working across technical and non-technical teams.
Duties:
- Data Flow Mapping: Map data flows across a multi-application platform estate, from data import through to customer delivery and internal reporting.
- Data Quality Controls: Design and implement validation rules, monitoring tools and controls to proactively identify data quality issues.
- Issue Resolution: Identify gaps, breaks and inconsistencies in data as it moves between systems, working with IT and development teams to resolve them.
- Compliance Assurance: Maintain assurance that systems and processes meet GDPR obligations, including data handling, retention and subject access requirements.
- Regulatory Controls: Ensure duty calculation logic and carrier selection rules remain accurate and compliant with relevant financial and customs regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Finance, Compliance, IT and Project teams to translate regulatory obligations into system controls and monitoring.
- Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing clear evidence of data accuracy and compliance controls.
- Reporting and Dashboards: Produce clear reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders covering system health, data quality metrics and compliance status.
- Documentation: Own and maintain data flow documentation, ensuring it remains current as systems and integrations evolve.
- Process Improvement: Deliver automated reconciliation processes, compliance alerting, bad customer data processes and demonstrable improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Relevant Experience: Demonstrable experience in a data, compliance or systems analyst role within a technology‑led environment.
- Data Flow Knowledge: Strong understanding of data flows, system integrations and how data moves across multi‑application estates.
- Quality Controls: Experience designing or implementing data quality controls, monitoring frameworks or validation processes.
- GDPR Understanding: Working knowledge of GDPR and practical experience applying data compliance requirements to business systems.
- SQL Skills: Ability to read and interpret SQL queries to interrogate data and validate system outputs.
- Mapping Tools: Proficiency in process and data flow mapping tools such as Visio or an equivalent platform.
- Communication Skills: Able to turn complex data and compliance findings into clear, accessible reporting for leadership teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Confident working across multiple functions and seniority levels with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Self-Management: Self‑directed, proactive and comfortable operating without a pre‑existing framework.
Desirable:
- Sector Background: Background in eCommerce, logistics, customs or financial services, particularly where duty, tax or carrier compliance is relevant.
- Cross‑Functional Experience: Experience working across IT and Finance functions, bridging technical and regulatory requirements.
- Governance Tools: Familiarity with data governance frameworks or tools including data catalogues or lineage tools.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Exposure to import/export regulations or carrier compliance requirements.
- Audit Experience: Experience supporting internal audits or regulatory submissions with data evidence packs.
- Qualifications: Degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Professional Accreditation: Data governance, compliance, business analysis or GDPR/data protection qualification such as BCS, ISEB or equivalent.
