Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant to support teaching, learning and classroom management within a busy secondary education environment, helping students stay on task and contributing to a positive learning experience.

SALARY: £27,779 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary £17,707 + Benefits

WORKING HOURS: 27.5 hours per week, 8:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant supporting students across a range of classes during teacher absence. This role is ideal for anyone passionate about working with young people and developing strong classroom management skills.
As a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant you will deliver pre-planned learning activities, keep students focused, and provide clear guidance so lessons run smoothly. You will supervise whole classes, manage behaviour and offer support when students need clarification.
The Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant role also includes assisting teachers in the classroom, contributing to a positive learning environment and developing your own skills in behaviour management and curriculum support. Full training will be provided.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant will include:
- Delivering Planned Learning Activities: Ensuring students follow the work set
- Maintaining Classroom Engagement: Keeping learners focused and on task
- Managing Behaviour: Promoting positive conduct in line with school expectations
- Supporting Student Queries: Offering clarification and guidance when needed
- Assisting Teachers: Providing support within the classroom when cover is not required
- Monitoring Progress: Ensuring students complete assigned work effectively
- Creating a Positive Environment: Encouraging participation and good learning habits
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Previous Experience in Education Support: Any role involving working with young people
- Strong Classroom Management: Confidence in managing behaviour positively
- Good Communication Skills: Able to explain tasks clearly and calmly
- Ability to Follow Lesson Plans: Delivering set work consistently
- A Background in Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues
Desirable
- Experience with Behaviour Management: Supporting student engagement
- Understanding of Secondary Education: Awareness of curriculum support
- Interest in Teaching or Youth Work: Motivated to develop education skills
