This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller or Horizontal Borer to join a modern machine shop environment, producing one-off and large machined components using FANUC-controlled CNC milling and boring machines.
SALARY: £21.19 per Hour (Effective Hourly Rate on shift pattern) + Overtime (paid at £26.96/hour) + Benefits
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Two-week compressed shift pattern. Four x 10-hour day shifts Monday to Thursday 07:00-17:30 followed by four x 10-hour night shifts Monday to Wednesday 19:00-05:00, Thursday 17:30-03:30
As a CNC Miller / CNC Machinist you will set, programme and operate large CNC milling and horizontal boring machines producing complex one-off components to exacting standards. The CNC Miller / CNC Machinist will join a supportive team committed to continuous learning, quality and long-term career development. Your duties as the CNC Miller / CNC Machinist include:
- Programming and Setting: Set, programme and operate large FANUC-controlled CNC milling and horizontal boring machines
- Precision Machining: Manufacture one-off components from billets, castings, forgings and fabrications
- Interpret engineering drawings: Manufacture components to specification
- Inspection and Measurement: Check dimensions and surface finish using manual measuring equipment
- Quality Standards: Produce high-quality work while taking excellent care of customer components
- Continuous Development: Develop machining skills through the company's competency framework and training opportunities
Requirements:
- Time-served machine shop apprenticeship
- Previous experience operating CNC milling machines or horizontal borers
- Able to set up one-off machining jobs
- CNC programming experience
- Skilled in using manual measuring equipment to inspect dimensions and surface finish
- Strong attention to quality and accuracy
- Experience machining large precision engineered components
- Experience using FANUC CNC control systems
