CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator / Miller / Turner / Programmer DAY SHIFT
An experienced 4/5 Axis CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator is required for a precision engineering and manufacturing environment, programming and editing using Heidenhain, Siemens or Fanuc controls. Work on high-tolerance components within aerospace, automotive and advanced engineering sectors.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a 4/5 Axis CNC Machinist / Setter / Operatorwho has experience working within a precision engineering environment with time served on programming / editing via Heidenhain, Siemens or Fanuc Control systems.
Working as a 4/5 Axis CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator you will be responsible for setting and operating multiple machines, reading 2D engineering drawings, and performing self-inspection of parts.
As the 4/5 Axis CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator you will have experience in datum setting, G, D&T, and tool offsetting. You should also be proficient with standard measuring systems and be prepared to contribute to team activities like 5S and TPM.

DUTIES
Your duties as a 4/5 Axis CNC Machinist / Setter / Operator include:
- Machine Operation: Run a range of machines, primarily HAAS, DMG, and Hermle, handling multiple programmes and a broad spread of products. You should be comfortable operating more than one machine at a time.
- Setting and Operating: Setting and operating the specified machines. Your duties will include spindle probing, datum setting, tool offsetting, and G, D&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). You'll also be responsible for program selection, saving, and handling Balluff systems.
- Technical Skills: Read 2D engineering drawings and use standard measuring systems and methodologies
- Documentation and Systems: Record productive time on manufacturing systems and accurately manage Route Cards
- Team and Improvement Activities: Participate in team-based improvement activities like 5S, TPM, and OEE, and engaging in SQDCP board discussions
- Quality and Safety: Responsible for the self-inspection of parts and resolving any Non-Conformance (NCR) issues. You must also promote and maintain a safe working environment and practices at all times
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering
- Requires time served on programming / editing via Heidenhain & Siemens control systems, Fanuc controls also used but to lesser degree
- Industry experience – Aerospace (ideal), Nuclear, Medical or Automotive (high end), Motorsport: all with high tolerances (+/-0.01mm, Airbus SO4 and S104 stds)
- Working to AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G) standards (ideal)
- Must have good team working skills coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and forward thinker with a 'can do' attitude.
- Ideally located within easy local commute to Sutton-in-Ashfield site
- Able to cover shifts as required (rotating days/nights, some weekends or days)
