SALARY: £23,550 FTE / Actual Annual Salary £10,917 (based on 20 hours) (Grade A) + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire(SO30) – Fully Site Based

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 20 hours per week, 10.00am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks).

Please note: This role isworking between 3 school sites, so a driving licence and own vehicle is required

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Catering Assistant who is a good team player with the ability to help prepare, cook and serve food and drink to students and staff.

As a School Catering Assistant you will be working in a busy, fast paced kitchen within a large secondary school under the direction of the Catering Manager.

As a School Catering Assistant you will be required to prepare and dismantle eating areas and carry out cleaning duties whilst maintaining high quality standards of health, hygiene and safety.

You will ideally have the Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, although not essential as training is available if necessary.

Applicants successfully shortlisted will be expected to complete a working interview as part of the interview process.

DUTIES

Your duties as a School Catering Assistant will include:

  • Help prepare, as directed by the Catering Manager, the required number of food products, following specified menus/special dietary requirements
  • Within strict time limitation, set up required number of tables, chairs, bins and water jugs for service periods within the designated eating areas
  • At end of service disassemble tables and chairs, clear and sweep eating / outside areas ready for immediate school use
  • Serve food following specified portion control guidelines and special dietary requirements
  • Positively encourage customers to try a variety of food and seek feedback from pupils and teachers on products and service
  • Operate tills and Cashless card system, following strict guidelines
  • Wash up all eating utensils and equipment, sterilising where required, following set guidelines
  • Complete cleaning duties, following daily and weekly rotas, to ensure health and safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Put away daily/weekly/fortnightly deliveries ensuring correct stock rotation and quality control guidelines are met
  • Receive deliveries, when directed by Catering Manager, carrying out quantity, temperature and quality checks
  • Ensure health and safety and hygiene procedures are met e.g. temperature probing and recording

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ideally have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, although training is available if necessary
  • Ability to work competently in a fast paced, busy environment
  • High quality standards of health, hygiene and safety
