The company is an award-winning bespoke fabrication studio that delivers exception craftmanship and innovative designs to their clients who include architects, artists, designers and private clients to realise a diverse range of projects: from residential interiors and modular architecture, to unique objects for creative and commercial settings. Working as a Site Carpenter / Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker / Wood Machinist & Fabricator you will play a key role with the studio and on-site team, taking a lead on delivering bespoke projects at a range of scales, from structural timber to fine joinery. This a varied and dynamic role, with responsibility for the assembly, fabrication and installation of a range of projects: from furniture to architectural features and timber structures. As the Site Carpenter / Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker / Wood Machinist & Fabricator you will work in the studio and on site, ensuring excellent standards of quality and precision while meeting the demands of a fast-paced environment. You will bring experience of cabinetmaking and/or site carpentry, with specialist skills in structural woodwork and installation, and a high level of attention to detail. DUTIES Your duties as a Site Carpenter / Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker / Wood Machinist & Fabricator include: Work as part of a team in the studio to fabricate projects in a range of materials, using traditional craft and digital fabrication methodologies Work as part of our team to install projects on site (in London and elsewhere in the UK) Take a mindful approach to work: mitigating risk, maximising efficiency and minimising wastage Work independently to maintain high standards of production output Work confidently from fabrication drawings Bring knowledge of materials and processes relevant to bench joinery and cabinetmaking Bring knowledge of specialist finishes relevant to hard and soft woods, veneers, and other solid surface materials Prepare materials and manage cutting lists Manage consumables and maintenance for equipment in the wood workshop, ensuring you are set up to deliver the best quality finish Work confidently and competently with other machinery, equipment, tools and materials Ensure you are equipped and prepared for work in the studio or on-site, including maintaining a personal tool kit relevant to your role CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Previous professional experience as a cabinetmaker and/or site carpenter Experience with structural woodwork and installation Experience working on site in a construction environment Ability to work from fabrication drawings Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail Understanding of material properties and their appropriate fabrication methodologies Experience with machinery, equipment and tools for general fabrication Awareness of health and safety regulations and best practice for compliance Strong verbal, interpersonal and comprehension skills Right to work in the UK without restrictions DESIRABLE Current CSCS card, or equivalent qualification (desirable) Other relevant professional training (First Aid, Fire Safety, PASMA, IPAF etc.) (desirable) HOW TO APPLY To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV with your portfolio to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
