SALARY: £16.00 – £20.00 per hour + Benefits

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 07:00–13:00. Flexible working can be applied to this role. This is an on-site role; hybrid or home working is not available.
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an opportunity to turn customer drawings and models into accurate, production-ready manufacturing information within a busy subcontract engineering environment.
The CAD / CAM Programmer will prepare clear manufacturing packs, combining CAD drawings, models and offline CNC programs to support quality and on-time delivery.
Working closely with production, the CAD / CAM Programmer will identify drawing issues early, simulate programs and help jobs move smoothly into manufacture.
The CAD / CAM Programmer will also contribute to how work is planned and executed, with ongoing professional development supported.
DUTIES
Your duties as the CAD / CAM Programmer include:
- 2D Drawing and 3D Modelling: Create accurate drawings and models for production
- Drawing Review: Check client drawings and identify missing or conflicting dimensions and tolerances
- CNC Programming and Simulation: Produce CNC programs offline and run simulations to prove out work before production
- Manufacturing Documentation: Create manufacturing packs, ballooned drawings and feature lists
- Production Support: Provide drawing and documentation support to production
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience producing drawings and models and carrying out offline programming
- Strong understanding of CNC machining and engineering drawings
- Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances and GDTs
- Experience with CAD/CAM and manufacturing documentation
- Strong attention to quality and accuracy with a structured approach
- Able to identify issues early and solve problems effectively
- Organised and able to manage multiple jobs
DESIRABLE
- Experience using Discus software or similar
- Measurement skills using manual or digital equipment
