JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer / Procurement Officer to make an impact within a growing manufacturer and support continued improvement across the supply chain.

Working with the Purchasing Manager and internal stakeholders, the Buyer / Procurement Officer will help maintain continuity of supply, improve supplier performance and support cost, quality and delivery objectives.

The Buyer / Procurement Officer will also contribute to procurement process improvement, KPI development, supplier relationships and new projects while helping the business meet evolving customer needs.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Buyer / Procurement Officer include:

• Purchasing and Supply: Purchase goods, materials, components and services in line with cost, quality and delivery targets, helping maintain continuity of supply and escalating risks
• Supplier Negotiation and Savings: Negotiate contracts, prices and terms, identify cost-saving opportunities and apply procurement best practice
• Supplier Performance: Assess suppliers, carry out performance reviews, support audits and improvement activity, and maintain professional supplier relationships
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal teams and suppliers on future requirements, new projects, supplies and initiatives, advising on impacts to purchasing and production
• Procurement Improvement: Help develop procurement processes and KPIs to analyse and improve supplier performance
• Systems and Records: Maintain traceable purchasing records, resolve invoice queries and support MRP activities when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Demonstrable experience of supplier selection, management and audit
• Previous experience with MRP or ERP systems
• Proficient in MS Office, including Excel and Word
• Strong planning, organisation, prioritisation, written and verbal communication skills
• Able to use initiative, work with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team

DESIRABLE

• CIPS Level 4 or a similar purchasing qualification
• HND (or equivalent) or Degree in an appropriate subject
• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to understand internal and external technical information
• Experience of customs import procedures
