JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Tool Hire Sales Assistant / Assistant Depot Manager with lifting equipment or tool hire experience. As the Senior Tool Hire Sales Assistant / Assistant Depot Manager you will support daily depot activity across hire and sales contracts, order processing, picking, packing and customer service, with exposure to lifting equipment and LOLER-related work. The Senior Tool Hire Sales Assistant / Assistant Depot Manager will also deputise for the Depot Manager, motivate a small team of 5, and help maintain safe, accountable and productive working standards.
DUTIES
- Depot Operations: Support the smooth day-to-day running of the depot, helping maintain high service standards and efficient workflows
- Hire and Sales Administration: Raise hire and sales contracts, process orders and complete daily administrative tasks accurately
- Lifting Equipment Support: Assist with depot activity involving lifting equipment, lifting gear and related hire processes, helping maintain accurate and safe working practices
- LOLER Awareness: Support work connected to LOLER-regulated equipment, ensuring relevant processes are followed and any issues are escalated appropriately
- Team Leadership: Motivate staff, support team performance and help create a productive, accountable and positive working environment
- Deputy Manager Support: Step in for the Depot Manager when required, reinforcing company policies and helping the team meet operational goals
- Customer Relationships: Build strong working relationships with customers, provide helpful service and support a professional depot experience
- Picking and Packing: Support picking, packing and order preparation to help ensure customer requirements are met efficiently
- Health and Safety: Promote safe working practices and support depot safety standards across daily operations
- Problem Solving: Use good judgement under pressure to mediate challenges, resolve issues and keep work moving effectively
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous sales assistant or depot supervisor with tool hire or equipment hire, lifting equipment experience
- A positive, proactive and can-do approach, with a willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to motivate staff, support colleagues and confidently deputise for the Depot Manager when required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships with customers and colleagues
- Good problem-solving skills, sound judgement under pressure and the ability to mediate challenges professionally
- Solid understanding of daily depot workflows, systems and safety standards
- Comfortable supporting administrative tasks, hire and sales contracts, order processing, picking and packing
DESIRABLE
- Experience or exposure to the lifting industry, lifting gear, lifting equipment or a closely related hire environment
- Awareness of LOLER regulations, or experience working in an environment where lifting equipment compliance is important
