JOB OVERVIEW: This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in estimating and commercial operations within the infrastructure and environmental sector. We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Assistant Estimator to support incoming enquiries, tender proposals, supplier coordination and client communication. As an Assistant Estimator you will work closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal Commercial and Operations teams, helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard. The Assistant Estimator role is designed to support training and development, making it suitable for someone starting out or moving into estimating from an administration, procurement, contracts or project support background.

DUTIES: Your duties as the Assistant Estimator include:

  • Client Enquiries: Review and manage incoming client enquiries
  • Tender Proposals: Prepare and submit tender proposals within required timescales
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Support suppliers and subcontractors with project information and requirements
  • Tender Follow-Up: Follow up submitted tenders and maintain clear client communication
  • Pre-Start Meetings: Attend pre-start meetings with clients and internal teams
  • Project Handovers: Assist with project handovers to Commercial and Operations teams
  • Portal Administration: Maintain enquiries and records across portals including CEMAR, Bravo and Contracts Status
  • Customer Service: Ensure customer service remains at the centre of delivery
  • Travel: Travel outside of the local area occasionally when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ESSENTIAL
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Driving Licence: Full manual driving licence
  • IT Skills: Good IT skills with confidence using systems and records
  • Organisation: Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Attention To Detail: Accurate approach to enquiries, tenders and documentation
  • Numerical Ability: Strong numerical ability with confidence handling figures
  • Development Mindset: Willingness to learn and develop within the role

DESIRABLE:

  • Sector Knowledge: Knowledge or understanding of the arboriculture, infrastructure or environmental sector
  • Estimating or Administration: Previous experience in estimating or administration
  • Career Interest: Interest in developing a long-term career within estimating and commercial operations
