Please Note: Due to the nature of this service, this role is open to women only . This occupational requirement is applied in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and includes women whose legal gender is female, including those who hold a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).
SALARY: £28,500 per annum + Benefits
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
LOCATION: Bexhill, East Sussex
WORKING HOURS: 10am–10pm on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern
JOB OVERVIEW
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Residential Support Worker to help women move towards safer, more secure futures through trauma-informed, person-centred support.
Working within a refuge and the local community, the Residential Support Worker will help create a safe, structured environment that builds confidence, independence and practical life skills.
The Residential Support Worker will work with colleagues and partner agencies, combining relationship-building, safeguarding, accurate records and calm responses to challenging situations.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Residential Support Worker include:
Resident Support and Relationships: Build positive professional relationships and provide trauma-informed, person-centred support
Independence and Life Skills: Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities that encourage confidence and independence
Resident Welcome and Induction: Welcome and induct new residents into the service
Safety and Welfare: Promote a safe, respectful environment and complete regular welfare and building checks
Records and Confidentiality: Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records
Challenging Situations: Respond calmly and sensitively to challenging situations and provide appropriate support
Partnership Working: Work with criminal justice and support agencies to help residents achieve positive outcomes
Emergency Responsibilities: Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
This role is open to women only . This is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 due to the nature and context of the service
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Understanding of safeguarding
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Able to work a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays
Empathetic and resilient, with the ability to handle confidential information sensitively
Confident communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds and able to remain calm under pressure
Professional, organised and able to maintain appropriate boundaries and accurate records
Committed to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing
Desirable
Experience in residential care, supporting women, criminal justice, behaviour change or housing support
Experience supporting people with multiple or complex needs
Experience delivering group activities or one-to-one support
Experience within a women's refuge or domestic abuse service
Knowledge of housing pathways and accommodation options for survivors
Medication experience or training
