LOCATION: Hybrid working between office and home, with desk space at the Bristol office (BS2), and travel across South West for organisational needs

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

JOB OVERVIEW: With racial justice and community impact at its heart, this role is ideal for a Programme Manager / Community Development Manager who can help Black and Racially Minoritised VCSE organisations strengthen capacity, sustainability and influence. The Programme Manager / Community Development Manager will deliver practical support across organisational development, fundraising, governance, strategy, stakeholder engagement and peer learning.

DUTIES:

  • Programme Delivery: Deliver fundraising and capacity building support to Black and Racially Minoritised VCSE organisations across the South West
  • Team Support: Support Community Organisers, a Fundraising Lead and Development Workers operating in different parts of the region
  • Organisational Development: Work with charities, CIOs, CICs and unincorporated groups to assess needs and develop plans around strategy, theory of change, governance, growth and sustainability
  • Community Convening: Host networking events, peer learning circles and knowledge-sharing opportunities with community organisations and partners
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build links with local authorities, NHS, Public Health, the Police and other stakeholders to help ensure services reflect the needs of local Black and Racially Minoritised communities
  • Fundraising Support: Draft fundraising applications and engage with funders to help unlock resources that achieve better outcomes with and for Black and Racially Minoritised communities
  • Learning and Resources: Ensure advice, templates, tools and learning opportunities are available to strengthen funding, impact and sustainability
  • Reporting and Insight: Capture organisational information, development activity, impact and learning using CRM and engagement reporting systems

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL

  • Understanding of and commitment to racial justice principles, with alignment to the organisations values and mission
  • Proven experience of programme management
  • Experience of organisational development in the VCSE sector
  • Experience working with Black and Racially Minoritised communities, or otherwise marginalised communities, using trauma-informed practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse communities, negotiate and share information clearly
  • Strong organisational and strategic planning skills, with experience coordinating events, campaigns or community programmes
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience delivering capacity building and/or support programmes
  • Knowledge of legal structures, organisational planning and budgets
  • Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and thrive in a small, agile team
  • Strong computer skills including CRM systems, Microsoft Teams and Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of the South West context and the specific challenges facing racially minoritised communities in the region
  • Experience working within the voluntary and community sector
  • Experience designing training programmes or community resources
