A practical, hands-on opportunity for a reliable Warehouse Operative to support goods in/out, packing, dispatch, stock control and courier coordination, involving regular lifting and carrying of stock. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – FULL ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED.
If you’ve previously worked as a Warehouse Operative, then great. If not, and you’re physically fit with the ability to work on your feet for most of the day, moving stock around the warehouse and live within 10 miles of Basildon (SS1 6), then we will also consider your application, as the company will provide full on the job training.

SALARY: starting at £27,000 per annum and rising to £29,500 per annum, after successfully completing the probation period.
LOCATION: Basildon, Essex (SS16) (You should live within a 10 mile commute to the site)

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Overview: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Warehouse Operative to support day-to-day warehouse operations, including goods in, goods out, stock control, packing, courier liaison, dispatch paperwork and warehouse record keeping. As a Warehouse Operative you will carry out a very hands-on role involving lifting and carrying stock, preparing orders, checking deliveries and helping to maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse. Previous warehouse experience is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties:
- Goods in and Goods Out: Complete warehouse procedures accurately in line with relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Stock Handling: Book in stock and place goods correctly on the appropriate shelving and storage areas.
- Manual Handling: Lift, carry, move and organise stock safely as part of a practical, hands-on warehouse role.
- Health and Safety: Follow health and safety procedures and ensure anyone entering the warehouse wears the correct protective clothing.
- Stock Checks: Monitor warehouse stock, support regular stock takes and keep records accurate and up to date.
- Temperature Logs: Maintain temperature records throughout the warehouse and complete forklift logs where applicable.
- Courier Liaison: Contact couriers for collections and deliveries and oversee stock moving in and out of the warehouse.
- Product Checks: Check incoming stock for signs of tampering or falsified medicine and report concerns immediately.
- System Records: Take scans or pictures of incoming products and add them to the computer system.
- Dispatch Preparation: Pack shipments, add correct paperwork and provide shipment images to the Sales Manager.
- Warehouse Standards: Keep the warehouse clean, swept and organised, including packing materials, pallets, boxes and tape.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Willing and able to carry out a practical warehouse role involving lifting, carrying, packing and moving stock.
- Able to follow procedures accurately and work in line with company standard operating procedures.
- Able to follow safe working practices and protective clothing requirements.
- Able to check stock, paperwork, labels, product condition and records carefully.
- Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to liaise clearly with managers, couriers and colleagues.
- Able to upload scans, images and records to a computer system.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Able to take instruction from the Warehouse Manager and work reliably as part of a team.
- Able to keep work areas clean, organised and ready for daily warehouse operations.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, logistics, stock control, goods in/out, packing or dispatch environment.
- Willingness to keep up to date with relevant GDP training focused on the role.
- Understanding of cold chain or temperature-controlled stock handling.
- Awareness of cytotoxic medicine storage or similar controlled warehouse processes.
Benefits:

- The business closes over the Christmas period, with employees only required to use one day's annual leave during this time.
