An established healthcare services organisation is looking for a commercially focused contracts professional to lead contract compliance, tender submissions, renewals and direct award activity across UK healthcare service contracts.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Contract Management to take ownership of a varied senior role supporting contract performance, tendering activity and sustainable service growth. Working closely with senior leaders, clinical services, commercial teams and NHS customers, the Head of Contract Management will ensure contractual compliance, support contract reviews and help maintain alignment with customer requirements. As the Head of Contract Management you will lead tenders, direct awards, renewals and extensions, while helping the organisation develop strong, compliant and commercially sound proposals.

DUTIES

  • Tender Management: Manage bid qualification, bid/no bid decisions, tender planning, progress tracking and timely submission of compliant, high-quality proposals.
  • Bid Team Coordination: Coordinate and chair bid team meetings, working with clinical, finance, production, manufacturing, health and safety, customer service, commercial and delivery teams.
  • Commercial Input: Work with commercial colleagues to understand pricing, service requirements and customer expectations for each bid.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to written proposals, management summaries, bid themes and presentation style.
  • Board Reporting: Compile and present summary reports to support bid decisions.
  • Contract Mobilisation: Project manage the commissioning of new contracts following successful awards.
  • Post-Bid Reviews: Arrange customer feedback meetings, review bid outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contract Renewals: Prepare and present proposals for direct awards, renewals and extensions in conjunction with senior clinical and contract management teams.
  • Contract Monitoring: Review contract performance, attend contract reviews and advise delivery teams on contract requirements.
  • Customer Meetings: Conduct face-to-face contract meetings with client organisations and support agreed changes to specifications.
  • Systems and Documentation: Maintain tender support documentation and support the development of a CRM database to monitor performance against expectations.
  • Framework Activity: Lead on framework tenders and renegotiations, including NHS supply chain activity where required.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience of contract management within the public sector, ideally healthcare.
  • Demonstrated success within tendering processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Detailed understanding of public procurement legislation, including the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Proactive, collaborative and detail-driven approach.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work to tight timescales and manage colleagues to deliver tender responses on time.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working within healthcare.
  • Experience tendering for Prosthetic and Orthotic contracts.
  • Supplier negotiation experience.
  • Background working with clinical teams or rehabilitation services.
  • Willingness to seek out improvements and provide feedback to individual team members.
