SALARY: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

LOCATION: Covent Garden, London (100% Office Based)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an opportunity to own proactive systems management within an MSP environment, with the IT Support Team available for escalation. As IT Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer you will monitor client environments, identify emerging issues and take preventive action.

The IT Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer will maintain servers, networks, endpoints and other assets, coordinating patching, backups, upgrades, security controls and incident response to improve reliability and performance.

Working across multiple client environments, the IT Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer will manage priorities independently, liaise with technical leadership and service desk colleagues, and maintain proactive systems policies and processes.

DUTIES

Your duties as the IT Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer include:

  • System Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Implement monitoring tools and processes, analyse performance data and address bottlenecks
  • Asset Health and Proactive Maintenance: Monitor servers, firewalls, switches and other assets, taking action on anomalies, failures and resource issues
  • Quality Control of IT Assets: Maintain servers, laptops, desktops, firewalls, routers and NAS through software deployment, patch management and audits
  • Asset Management and User Lifecycle: Improve asset maintenance processes and coordinate device and user onboarding and offboarding
  • Infrastructure Upgrades and Change: Oversee installations, configurations and upgrades, define goals, timelines and dependencies, and apply change management practices
  • Backup and Recovery Management: Develop backup schedules and strategies, monitor reliability and audit backups to support data integrity
  • Cybersecurity and Endpoint Security: Implement endpoint protection, conduct vulnerability assessments and apply appropriate security controls and mitigations
  • Alert and Incident Management: Establish alert monitoring and coordinate incident response to minimise downtime and data loss
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify IT vulnerabilities, recommend controls and implement proactive measures to reduce incident likelihood and impact
  • Technical Planning and Coordination: Plan technical work, manage priorities, delegate appropriate tasks and provide guidance where required
  • Stakeholder Liaison and Administration: Collaborate with technical leadership and service desk colleagues, and create and maintain proactive systems policies and processes

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience implementing system monitoring tools and interpreting performance data
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, asset maintenance, software deployment and patch management
  • Experience overseeing infrastructure installation, configuration and upgrades
  • Knowledge of change management practices and technical project delivery
  • Capability in backup, recovery and data-integrity monitoring
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, endpoint security, vulnerability management and incident response
  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective technical solutions
  • Ability to create and maintain policies and processes for proactive systems management
  • Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and keep technical knowledge current
