Job Overview:

Working across a varied portfolio of projects, the Installation Engineer / Multi-Skilled Tradesperson will carry out practical installation and construction work ranging from fitting pool covers and working with pipework in plant rooms to balancing pool water and helping construct new natural swimming pools. The company is looking for someone with a strong general construction background who is confident using hand and power tools, comfortable carrying out practical site work and familiar with plumbing and pipework. You do not need previous swimming pool experience, and specialist training will be provided.

The Installation Engineer / Multi-Skilled Tradesperson will work with a good degree of autonomy, arranging materials, organising daily activities and ensuring work is completed accurately, tidily and to a high standard. The role will also occasionally involve supervising subcontractors, supporting construction teams and assisting with the maintenance of completed pools. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, self-motivated construction professional looking to develop specialist skills in an innovative and growing sector. The Installation Engineer / Multi-Skilled Tradesperson should be organised, confident interpreting plans and drawings and capable of managing their workload effectively.

Duties:

  • Pool Installation and Construction: Assist with and, where required, supervise teams constructing and installing new natural swimming pools.
  • Plant Room and Pipework Installation: Carry out practical work with plumbing, pipework and associated equipment within pool plant rooms.
  • Pool Equipment Installation: Install pool covers and other equipment required as part of new and existing pool projects.
  • Water Testing and Balancing: Balance swimming pool water and help ensure completed systems operate effectively.
  • Practical Site Work: Use hand and power tools confidently to complete a varied range of construction, installation and finishing tasks.
  • Site and Subcontractor Supervision: Coordinate and supervise subcontractors where required, helping maintain high standards of workmanship on site.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist occasionally with the maintenance of the company’s portfolio of completed swimming pools.
  • Materials and Work Planning: Order required materials, organise daily activities and manage workloads independently when necessary.
  • Plans and Drawings: Read plans and drawings accurately and translate them into practical construction and installation work.
  • Site Organisation: Maintain an organised and tidy approach while communicating effectively with colleagues, subcontractors and others involved in each project.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previous construction experience with good knowledge of general construction methods.
  • Practical, hands-on ability with confidence using tools and carrying out construction and installation work.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, pipework and practical installation work.
  • Able to read plans and drawings accurately and translate them into practical work.
  • Good understanding of electrics.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Highly organised with a tidy and methodical approach to work.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and manage daily activities effectively.
  • Basic computer skills, including confident use of email and a smartphone.
  • ISPE qualification or equivalent, or willingness to obtain the qualification.

Desirable:

  • Previous plumbing experience.
  • Previous swimming pool construction experience.
