Our client is recruiting for a Senior Authorised Person to work on their UK Power Networks contract in South East England. As a Senior Authorised Person you will be part of our substation build team working UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network. Your role will be to plan and undertake system outages as per an agreed switching schedule and put people to work safely on the system.

Our client is proud to be a key partner on the UKPN ED1SON Alliance Contract, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England, including design, project management, on-site cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear installation, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the project teams.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the client Distribution Safety Rules.
  • Develop and implement Safety documentation, including liaison with outage planning.
  • Prepare switching schedules via the PowerOn software application.
  • Isolate and Earth High Voltage apparatus and put people to work via a Permit to Work.
  • Issue Sanction for Test and undertake required testing.
  • Issue Limitation of Access documents where required.
  • Monitor the progress of sites under operational charge to ensure full compliance with the current UKPN Distribution Safety Rules.
  • Attend client progress meetings, pre-start meetings and client audits as required.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues raised on site.
  • Provide technical and operational support for projects at a concept stage to ensure robust, cost effective build solutions.
  • Support and mentor other team members to enhance their technical knowledge.
  • Assist/review in the creation of project outage programmes.
  • Ensure full compliance on projects with all client procedures and current legislation.
  • Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the contract.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • A proven track record of working on and around the High Voltage distribution network.
  • Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure and legislation, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Competent 11kV, 33kV or 132kV SAP on an established DNO Distribution Network.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Ability to work within budget and within programmed timescales.
  • Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers and project staff.

Additional Information

  • Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate experience in similar environment.
