Our client provides an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within their Distribution and Connections division. As one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) in the UK, our client supports distribution network operations across infrastructure. Their team installs and maintains distribution networks and ensures reliable connections for customers, carrying out electrical planned work, customer connections and network reinforcement.
What will you be doing? Are you ready to be a part of our substation build team working on UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network on projects in the East of England? Are you a Competent 11kV, 33kV or 132kV SAP with experience working on an established DNO Distribution Network? You'll be responsible for planning and undertaking system outages as per an agreed switching schedule and putting people to work safely on the system. Your role will involve developing and implementing safety documentation, preparing switching schedules via PowerOn, and isolating and earthing high voltage apparatus. You'll issue Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, and Limitation of Access documents, ensuring site progress adheres to UKPN Distribution Safety Rules. You'll attend client meetings, resolve operational issues, support project concept stages, mentor team members, assist in creating outage programmes, and ensure compliance with M Group procedures and legislation.
What you'll bring:
- A proven track record of working on and around the High Voltage distribution network
- Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure and legislation in addition to sound decision making skills
- Able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success
- The ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Competent 11kV, 33kV or 132kV SAP on an established DNO Distribution Network
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environment
- Ability to work within budget and within programmed timescales
- Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers and project staff
- Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate they have worked in a similar environment
- Full Driving license - you'll be covering sites across the East of England and surrounding counties.
