We are recruiting for a Head of Bid Management to lead and develop our bid function within the Energy team. This senior role is responsible for overseeing the sales and bid pipeline, driving bidding performance, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality tenders aligned with the company’s strategic business plan.
You will manage and develop a team of four experienced bid professionals, embedding best practice, ensuring compliance with governance processes, and driving continuous improvement across the bid management function.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the sales and bid pipeline, ensuring visibility, prioritisation, and effective resource planning.
- Lead, develop, and deploy a team of four bid management specialists to maximise bid success and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement within the bid management function, including processes, tools, and ways of working.
- Ensure all bids and tenders fully comply with internal governance and approval processes.
- Act as the key interface with client procurement teams, maintaining clear and professional lines of communication.
- Communicate bid pipeline status and requirements with key internal stakeholders, ensuring bids are appropriately resourced.
- Manage and maintain a central library of bid content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reuse of best-practice materials.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and values, leading by example at all times.
What You’ll Bring
- Background within a construction, utilities, or energy-based sector.
- Strong experience working with NEC forms of contract.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in bid management, ideally within a complex, regulated environment.
- Proven experience in managing and leading teams.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Degree-qualified (desirable but not essential).
- Ability to communicate confidently and concisely about products and services.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- High standard of bid writing and proofreading capability.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel when required.
